Joanne Knapp – Testimonial
Mr Pal initially saw me on ward L24 within the LGI on 5th Sept 2023. I had an MRI the evening prior and it was discovered that i had a calcified disc at position left T10-T11. Mr Pal made no bones about the fact i really needed surgery to removed the offending disc as without it there was a high risk of paralysis below that point. He also noted even if i had the procedure there was still a 20% chance of paralysis also. I agreed to the procedure and after having to cancel this twice it finally went ahead on 18th Oct 2023. I was terrified to say the least but was reassured by Mr Pal and his colleagues that although this was a complicated high risk procedure they would do all they could to ensure it was successful.
After 10 hours of surgery i was taken to HDU due to medications i was receiving where i was expertly cared for and then transferred back to ward L24 for further recovery where the staff were just incredible - so so busy all the time but nothing was ever too much for them. Mr Pal checked on me in person and by phone even over the weekend which i was so grateful for. The professionalism, kindness and skill Mr Pal has shown me - well i do not know where i would be without him. I literally feel like he has saved my life as if I had not gone ahead with the procedure, I would, almost certainly, be in a wheelchair and also incontinent.
Thanks are just not enough for what you did for me and also for my family who were terrified for me too. A thousand thank yous would never be enough but here are a few more. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU.
