Mike Trayer – Testimonial
I am 71 years young and enjoyed walking, going to the gym, travel etc. In late 2020 during the pandemic, I started -with pins and needles/numbness down the back of my legs, from the knees downwards. Into 2021, this progressed to severe pain down my right leg, so severe, I could not walk further than a short distance without stopping to take the pressure off my foot.
My GP referred me to Mr Deb Pal, who organised MRI scans and X-rays of my spine. At the follow up clinic, Mr Pal explained the findings. The MRI scans showed critical stenosis at L2/3, and Mr Pal stated that I most definitely needed surgery. He mentioned that otherwise, I would deteriorate and could become immobile. He offered L2/3 surgical decompression.
I was booked in for surgery on Friday 5th November 2021 at the Nuffield Hospital. It was a welcome relief to see Mr Pal’s smiling face later that day, informing me that the surgery had been successful, and without any complications. I was able to walk pain-free up and down the ward corridor the day after surgery!!!
It is now going on for 3 weeks post-surgery and I am making steady progress in my recovery. With physio, it should not be too long before I return to normal functions.
I must add that, I was really apprehensive and nervous about the operation, Mr Pal having detailed possible complications that must be brought to the patient’s attention.
Mr Pal has great communication skills and all details were explained which put me at ease. He has a very friendly and courteous manner.
He is a very skilled, and able spinal surgeon and I would most definitely recommend him to anyone seeking a specialist in this area.
A huge thank you Mr Pal for giving my life back; thanks to you, I can now walk pain free again.
