I am 59 years old. I was extremely active and was fit and well until last year.

I began to get pain in my upper back and also down my left arm. There was no one event or trauma which caused this so far as I am aware. I had attended an osteopath for several months without any real change. By the time I contacted Mr Pal I was unable to hold my head up straight and unable to lie down - I was sleeping sat in a chair. Mr Pal saw me within a week and my operation was after 5 weeks (the Christmas break was in this 5 week period). I woke from the operation with no pain at all in my left arm - the pain had gone.

I still have numbness in 2 fingers - but no pain.

The physio at Nuffield from Laurence Wharmby has been fantastic and now, some 18 weeks post operation I am returning to most normal activities (but still avoiding impact and heavy lifting).

Mr Pal explained clearly what the procedure was and explained clearly what the risks were.
