Having struggled with intermittent back pain for many years, stenosis was diagnosed in 2011.By 2019 the pain had spread to the buttocks and legs.An MRI scan led to the first suggestion of surgery as a solution to a problem which by then meant that my quality of life was severely limited-pain when walking, sitting and even sleeping was acute.A referral to a consultant neurosurgeon,Mr Pal followed. His medical record, his manner and the clarity of his diagnosis filled my husband and I with confidence and we decided to opt for surgery. I walked into Spire hospital an 80 year old woman who looked far older-bent forward and shuffling along. The operation was done that afternoon (L3-L4+L4-L5 Decompression) and the next day I was still 80,still old but walking around our house no longer bent and now taking normal steps.Full recovery will take some time but we are so grateful to Mr Pal for his remarkable skill(we can't really thank him enough),and to all the staff at Spire who played their part.
