Simon Gardiner – Testimonial
I was referred to Dr Pal after seeing a liver specialist in Yorkshire for accute pains in the liver area - The MRI showed a distinct shadow that Dr Pal confirmed was a nerve sheath tumour - The tumour was monitored by the team at LGI for a number of weeks and after establishing that it was growing (15cm's) and not knowing if it was cancerous, it was agreed that Dr Pal and the team in LGI would remove the tumour on the 23rd May this year. For me, the thought of a long period of surgery was concerning but Dr Pal introduced me to a close colleague of his, Dr Chaudhuri (Thoracic Surgeon) who would assist Dr Pal on the day of surgery. The surgery happened on the planned day and lasted 10 hours. Both surgeon's and the team in LGI worked extremely hard and carefully to ensure that the tumour was removed in one piece and minimised the risks to me as a patient.
At one stage I was in two minds whether to have the surgery but both surgeon's carefully explained the risks of having or not having the surgery and this clear approach helped me through the decison making process. Two month's on I am back to my normal activities, including work and looking back I am so glad that I made the decision to have this tumour removed, especially that it is now confirmed as benign. Everyone within LGI that I met was fully supportive and nothing was too much trouble and I wouldn't have any hesitation in recommending Dr Pal, Dr Chaudhuri and the LGI team to anyone who may need their services.
